Gabbard vs Clinton: $50 Million Defamation Lawsuit Filed

By Danny C. | DCPeriodical | 01/22/20

It is now official. Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has filed suit in New York against Hillary Clinton for defamatory comments she made back in October, when Clinton went on a podcast and baselessly announced to the world that Gabbard, a presidential hopeful, was an asset of the Russians.

Gabbard’s legal team is citing potential losses of $50 million over Clinton’s remarks, which came in the middle of an election and did a great job of convincing vast numbers of Americans that Gabbard — a Major in the National Guard, a Congresswoman, and a multiple time veteran of the “War on Terror” in the Middle East — is a traitor working for a foreign government.

From the court documents:

Tulsi Gabbard is running for President of the United States, a position Clinton has long coveted, but has not been able to attain. In October 2019—whether out of personal animus, political enmity, or fear of real change within a political party Clinton and her allies have long dominated—Clinton lied about her perceived rival Tulsi Gabbard. She did so publicly, unambiguously, and with obvious malicious intent. Tulsi has been harmed by Clinton’s lies—and American democracy has suffered as well. With this action, Tulsi seeks to hold Clinton, and the political elites who enable her, accountable for distorting the truth in the middle of a critical Presidential election.”

The documents outline the beginnings of Clinton’s animosity towards Gabbard, all stemming from the 2016 Presidential Election, or more specifically, the Democratic Primiaries, when Gabbard decided to back Bernie Sanders rather than Clinton:

In February 2016, Tulsi believed the best Democratic presidential candidate for our country was Senator Bernie Sanders. She also knew that Clinton had a stranglehold over the Democratic party and that crossing Clinton (who considered herself the “inevitable nominee”) could mean the end of her own political career. Yet Tulsi put the country before herself, and she publicly endorsed Senator Sanders, becoming the most prominent politician to do so at the time.

Clinton—a cutthroat politician by any account—has never forgotten this perceived slight. And in October 2019, she sought retribution by lying, publicly and loudly, about Tulsi Gabbard. Specifically, in widely disseminated national comments, Clinton falsely stated that Tulsi—an Army National Guard officer and United States Congresswoman who has spent her entire adult life serving this country—is a “Russian asset.” Clinton’s false assertions were made in a deliberate attempt to derail Tulsi’s presidential campaign.

Clinton had no basis for making her false assertions about Tulsi—and indeed, there is no factual basis for Clinton’s conspiracy theory. Clinton’s peddling of this theory has harmed Tulsi, has harmed American voters, and has harmed American democracy. Tulsi brings this lawsuit to ensure that the truth prevails and to ensure this country’s political elites are held accountable for intentionally trying to distort the truth in the midst of a critical presidential election.

An active smear campaign against Gabbard was well underway in the Clinton-serving mainstream American media before Clinton made her comments. Gabbard had been called an “Assad apologist” and a “Russian asset” by other publications and networks, such as the NY Times and CNN, basically as soon as she announced her candidacy.

When Clinton finally came slithering out of the shadows to make her maliciously slanderous, election-meddling remarks, Gabbard and her camp knew exactly who had been behind the smear campaign the whole time. Gabbard released a storm of ruthless, yet completely true, tweets that day:

As there is absolutely no evidence to show Gabbard is a Russian asset, or that she was planning on running as a third party candidate to steal Democratic votes, which Clinton also claimed on the Campaign HQ with David Plouffe podcast that day, it will very interesting to see what kind of defense Clinton’s team will prepare.

This comes mere days after Clinton was in the news for active smears against Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. In a just-released documentary she said, like an eighth-grader, that nobody likes Sanders — despite him now leading the entire Democratic list of candidates.

Election meddling, for a matter of fact, is Clinton and her DNC cronies’ go-to move. In 2016 Wikileaks released emails to show Clinton and the DNC rigged the Democratic Primaries against Sanders by funneling funds into Clinton’s campaign, while they also rigged the Republican Primaries by using their friends in the media to push Donald Trump to the front of the ticket. They did this because they felt Trump would be easiest for Clinton to defeat in her bid for the keys to the very Oval Office her husband, Bill Clinton, received blowjobs from his interns in during his presidency. It didn’t work. Clinton was so universally hated that even a reality TV show host beat her.

While Clinton’s lawyers will probably do their best to stretch this suit out as long as possible, it looks like this time the “Queen of Warmongers” will finally have to swallow her medicine.
