Tulsi Gabbard on House Vote to Limit Trump’s War Powers Against Iran

By DCPeriodical | 01/09/20 |

Today the US House voted to approve a non-binding War Powers Resolution meant to restrict President Trump’s abilities to take military actions against Iran.

The vote was 224 to 194, with several apparent abstentions, three Republicans voting in favor and eight Democrats voting against it, including Rep. Max Rose of Staten Island, NY, who said Trump was justified in killing the Quds commander.

NY Post.

DCPeriodical released an article on this issue days ago which outlined how provisions and amendments put in the National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA) by Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and Rep. Ro Khanna that would have prevented President Trump from attacking Iran in the first place were stricken from the final bill, greenlighting Trump’s assassination of top Iranian official General Qasem Soleimani and the events which followed, including the downing of a Ukrainian airliner holding nearly 200 people. You can read that piece here.

In the meantime, who better to explain today’s vote and the urgent and volatile situation unfolding in the Middle East than foreign policy expert, multiple times veteran of the Middle East, National Guard Major, presidential hopeful, congresswoman, and original author of the stricken amendment which would have prevented the assassination, Tulsi Gabbard herself?
