As the White House’s list of excuses for carrying out the political assassination of Iran’s top general wears thinner and thinner, Vice President Mike Pence just won the award for the most unfounded conspiratorial claim yet.
According to Pence’s Twitter, General Soleimani “assisted in the clandestine travel to Afghanistan of 10 of the 12 terrorists who carried out the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States.”
Yes, you read that right.
For 18 years now the US has tried to tie most of their targets-of-the-week to the 9/11 attacks in order to justify their imperial barbarity against them. We were even told Saddam Hussein was connected to al Qaeda and the World Trade Center attacks at one point. Of course, like the “weapons of mass destruction” we were told he was hiding, that narrative turned out to be complete bullshit. Well, the Soleimani claim is no less, what’s the word I’m looking for, ah yes, bullshitty.
Now, when spotting a filthy liar it’s important to evaluate their knowledge of the background of the assertion they’re putting forward, thus testing their credibility.
Pence, for instance, doesn’t even seem to know that there were 19 hijackers on 9/11, not “12.” That’s really bad, especially when one considers that this is the man who would become president if Donald Trump — who now has an $80 million bounty on his head — should die.
Moreover, the Tweet attached to the ridiculous 9/11 claim asserts that “In Yemen, the Qods Force, under Soleimani’s leadership, has orchestrated and enabled the launch of missiles that have resulted in the deaths of dozens of people in the region. Targets have included civilian airports in Saudi Arabia.”
Funny Pence should bring up Saudi Arabia, where 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 were from. Saudi Arabia, in fact, is facing a lawsuit from over 1400 families of 9/11 victims for their role in the planning, funding, and carrying out the attacks. The US government for 18 years has been doing their best to cover this inconvenient fact up, but the evidence is quite overwhelming. We have a whole breakdown of known Saudi involvement in 9/11 here:
Pence also mentions Soleimani’s role in attacks on Saudi Arabia during the Yemen conflict, painting the general as an evil man for his involvement in the deaths of “dozens of people” in the region.
Okay, while it isn’t great to have blood on your hands, even in war, what Pence fails to mention is that the situation in Yemen is a literal genocide against its Iran-backed Shia population, being led by a Sunni coalition taking orders from Saudi Arabia, who are directly armed and funded by the United States Government in the skirmish.
To really blow Pence’s nonsense out of the water, take this 2018 statistic from the Yemen Data Project (YDP). It states that in the first three years of the Yemen conflict alone, the Saudi-led, American-backed coalition forces bombed 10,628 civilian targets.
So, if Soleimani is a “terrorist” for being involved in the “deaths of dozens of civilians” in Yemen, which, if true, would be the case, but regardless, if so, what does that make the US and Saudi Arabian governments for their direct involvement in the deaths of approximately 1000 times more civilian Yemenis? Is there even a word to describe that kind of indiscriminate slaughter? This is a case where even the word “terrorists” seems too light a description.
To add more murkiness to Pence’s poisonous, lie-filled water, in what reality would Iranian Shiite Muslims assist their sworn Sunni enemies in transporting Saudi Arabian terrorists to Afghanistan? Saudi Arabia and Iran are direct adversaries and have been forever, like since the ancient days of the Arabs vs. the Persians. What kind of game is this guy playing? How stupidly gullible does he think we are?
Luckily it doesn’t matter what the delusional VP thinks. Pence was rightfully called out and humiliated by a fury of tweets after his baseless allegations hit the web. Here a select few. Enjoy them while you can, because this tweet is so pathetically stupid Pence could be taking it down at any minute:
And my personal favorite:
Great work, Mike!
