Gabbard Was Right: Pelosi’s “War Powers Resolution” Highlights Dem’s Complicity & Hypocrisy in Iran Escalations

As if saying Donald Trump is an untrustworthy asset of a foreign government (Russia) and then giving him over a hundred billion dollars for his war efforts wasn’t hypocritical enough for US Democratic lawmakers, then their upcoming “War Powers Resolution” surely exposes their duplicity in all its glory.

In June, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard introduced measures to be added to the National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA) that would have prohibited the president from starting any wars without the expressed consent of Congress. Iran was specifically named in the amendment:

“Congress bears the Constitutionally-mandated authority to declare war. Trump launching an attack against Iran without Congressional authorization would be illegal, unconstitutional, and kick off a war so devastating and costly, it would make the Iraq war look like a picnic.

“My No More Presidential Wars resolution will exact a clear consequence to any President that skirts the war powers authority of Congress and my NDAA amendments will make certain that nothing in this bill may be used to take America into yet another wasteful, counterproductive regime change war.”

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI), June 24, 2019.
Tulsi Gabbard’s ammendment to the NDAA prohibiting the president from launching a rogue war against Iran.

Unfortunately the warhawk Democratic establishment, who have fought hard against Gabbard’s anti-interventionist platform, had her amendment stricken from the NDAA before its passing, in turn greenlighting President Trump to eventually commit the act of war he committed on January 2nd when he ordered the assassination of Iran’s second highest ranking official, General Qasem Soleimani.

“The final language in this bill fails to include a repeal of the 2002 Iraq authorization for use of military force and removed my provision to prohibit the unauthorized use of military force against Iran and Venezuela.”

Tulsi Gabbard, Dec. 12, 2019.

Another ammendment by Rep. Ro Khanna would have enforced that funding the president recieved from Congress through the Act could not be put towards a war with Iran. The Democratic Party brass removed that ammendment, as well.

While President Trump takes the lion’s share of blame for the escalating war between the US and Iran by proverbially pulling the trigger on Soleimani, Nancy Pelosi and her Democratic Congress certainly did their part in loading the rifle.

With threats now being waged against American soil and Iran hopping back into their work on developing nuclear weapons, the Democrats are showing their hypocrisy in it’s most apparent (and abhorrent) form.

On Sunday House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote in a letter to officials that her cronies in the House plan on introducing a “War Powers Resolution” to “limit the President’s military actions regarding Iran.”

This move is comparable taking your kid’s license away for crashing the car after you bought him liquor and threw him the keys.

Knowing now that Pelosi and her thugs took an exacto-knife to specific laws in the NDAA that would have prevented Trump’s ability to attack Iran, see if you can keep your head from spinning while reading what Pelosi states in her letter:

According to Pelosi, the new provisions act will be headed by former CIA and DoD analyst Elissa Slotkin, and will assert “Congress’s long-established oversight responsibilities by mandating that if no further Congressional action is taken, the Administration’s military hostilities with regard to Iran cease within 30 days.”

As it is good Trump will be put somewhat in check now, clearly this new provision falls far below the threshold already established and then deleted in the earlier provisions put forth by Khanna and Gabbard. The fact Pelosi didn’t begin her letter with “my deepest apologies to Representatives Tulsi Gabbard and Ro Khanna” tells us all we need to know about the lack-of integrity within the Democratic establishment’s billionaire matriarch.

As Nancy Pelosi approved of and kept silent about the Bush-Cheney surveillance and torture programs during the Iraq War, holding the door open for Trump to enter into war with Iran is simply par for the course, and her newly proposed provision being half of what was already prepared to be put in place months ago is the icing on the cake. It is yet another lesson in the fact that right vs. left issues are just theatre for the brainless masses. At the end of day, they all know on which side their bread is buttered.
