The fifth generation of broadband service, known as 5G, is being pushed with force by providers as the revolutionary next step in wireless evolution.
AT&T, for instance, proudly boasts they’re ‘transforming the future with 5G,’ and that their ‘vision for a 5G network is crystal clear, and we’re already bringing it to life.’
T-Mobile, who is ‘committed to making a 5G future available for all,’ is set to invest $40 billion over the next three years to expand their network.
Verizon, who’s current 5G technology was slammed by ExtremeTech.com for not even being able to transmit across an NBA arena, advertise they’re ‘building the most powerful 5G experience in America.’
The hype is palpable, and these promises of powerful data transfers and instantaneous download and upload times have a lot of consumers champing at the bit—and not just techies. But a new appeal from 252 experts (and counting) may be a caution they need to heed.
As we speak, more and more electromagnetic field (EMF) scientists are signing onto the appeal, which ‘urgently’ calls ‘upon the United Nations and its sub-organizations…and all U.N. Member States’ to implement ‘greater health protection on EMF exposure.’
“Based upon peer-reviewed, published research, we have serious concerns regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices…such as cellular and cordless phones and their base stations, Wi-Fi, broadcast antennas, smart meters, and baby monitors as well as electric devices and infra-structures used in the delivery of electricity that generate extremely-low frequency electromagnetic field (ELF EMF).”-EMFScientist.org
This collection of scientists, who have published over 2,000 peer-reviewed papers on the subject between them, argue their experiments have found that electromagentic fields ‘well below most international and national guidelines’ are detrimental to living organisms.
Since these findings were predominantly concluded from 2G to 4G experiments, this means even the current form of cellular service we’re using (and the radiation pulsing from it) is already known to be hazardous. It’s been proven to increase ‘cancer risk, cellular stress,’ cause ‘genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system,’ and induce ‘learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans.’
According to a recent Scientific American piece, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) set the guidelines for exposure limits to radio frequency radiation (RFR) in the 90’s based on short-term heating risks. The problem is, the EMF scientists have proven ‘harmful biologic or health effects’ occur ‘from exposure to RFR at intensities too low to cause significant heating.’
Despite these findings, the FDA just reaffirmed the FCC’s outdated, dangerous exposure limits and asserted—without conducting a formal risk assessment—’that no changes to the current standards are warranted at this time.’
Now, when a possibly trillion dollar market is in the works, and the FDA and FCC are ignoring thousands of peer-reviewed works exposing the dangers of said market and pushing it through anyway, one would have to be incredibly naive not to assume backdoor deals and major payoffs are taking place. But on this I digress—for now.
For a little background, 5G works by employing millimeter waves on top of the microwaves already being used by 2G through 4G, and because these millimeter waves have such a short reach, there’s going to be cell antennas pumping these radiation waves out every 100-200 meters. In other words, these short and severely powerful waves will soon be transmitting everywhere.
The EMF scientists caution that millimeter waves, even from short-term exposure, can cause ‘adverse physiological effects in the peripheral nervous system, the immune system and the cardiovascular system,’ while long term exposure can lead to other harsh effects, such as melanoma, ocular melanoma, and sterility.
Whether intentionally or not, because governments have been negligent thus far in funding tests on 5G, it’s unknown just how bad and to what extent the danger of the technology poses. But this is no matter. Scientists already have a substantial amount of evidence to prove the dangers of 3G and 2G, while in the ten years 4G has been in use, head and neck tumors have gone up considerably, and as Scientific American points out, ‘these increases are consistent with results from case-control studies of tumor risk in heavy cell phone users.’ 5G, of course is just an add-on to 4G, and produces much more powerful radiation to boot.
The 5G revolution will be worth billions, possibly trillions, to big tech and its investors (and whoever they pay off in the process to push it through). What’s more, that money will be coming out of the pockets of the average consumer, who will then be subject to nearly one million new antenna towers transmitting radio frequency radiation into their nervous systems at every turn.
Perhaps it would be wise of us to listen to the scientists (and the thousands of papers they’ve published), and join them in the initiative to legally prohibit 5G until the proper testing and biological exposure limits have been implemented.
